Cabbage Palm

DESCRIPTION

A beautiful costa palmate palm with olive green leaves that has been designated as the state tree of both Florida and South Carolina.  This hardy slower growing palm is fun to grow indoors but requires bright light, good humidity, and patience.  In the landscape the palm looks great in groups but can also be used as a specimen palm in smaller landscapes. 

   

ORIGIN: Southeastern US, Bahamas and Cuba

SUNLIGHT: Full sun to partial shade

DROUGHT TOLERANCE: Seasonally drought tolerant  

HARDINESS ZONE: 8-11 Marginal in zone 7

SALT TOLERANCE: Tolerates but does not thrive in saline environments. 

TYPICAL HEIGHT:  60 feet, but can reach up to 80 feet. 

GROWTH RATE:   Slow to moderate
