DESCRIPTION: 

Japanese privet can be used as a shrub and commonly used as a hedge but does and looks best in the form of a tree. 

 

This plant can grow 15 feet or more in a nice, natural shape with deep green, shiny leaves and white spring flowers. You can also keep it sheared into a smaller form of about 8 to 10 feet which is great for smaller landscapes.

ORIGIN: Japan and Korea

SUNLIGHT: Full to part sun

DROUGHT TOLERANCE: Tolerant once established.

HARDINESS ZONE: 7+

SALT TOLERANCE: Not well

TYPICAL HEIGHT: 15 to 25 feet

GROWTH RATE:  Fast initially then slows down.
