Description:
Gardenia thunbergia, commonly called Thunberg Gardenia or Wild Gardenia, is a large, evergreen shrub or small tree native to southern Africa. It is prized for its fragrant, large white flowers, which bloom primarily in summer and attract pollinators. The plant has leathery, dark green leaves and smooth gray bark. Its fruit is hard, woody, and oval-shaped—persisting on the plant for months and adding year-round ornamental interest. Thunberg Gardenia is tough, drought-tolerant once established, and excellent for hedges, screens, or specimen planting in warm climates.
