Description
Zingiber zerumbet, commonly known as Shampoo Ginger, Awapuhi, or Pinecone Ginger, is a tropical perennial native to Southeast Asia and Polynesia. It is valued for its unique, pinecone-shaped inflorescences that turn bright red and fill with a fragrant, sudsy liquid traditionally used as a natural shampoo and skin conditioner. The plant has lush green foliage and thrives in moist, shady areas. Widely used in tropical landscaping, traditional Hawaiian medicine, and natural personal care products.
